Making the decision to go to drug or alcohol rehab is the best decision for an addict. But sometimes the whole idea of what “rehab” is all about can be distorted by movie plots and celebrity rehab stories.
So, maybe you are unclear what an effective substance abuse rehabilitation program in South Carolina is really like? There are many fallacies about substance abuse rehabs in Moncks Corner, South Carolina and other locations.
Although all substance abuse rehabs in South Carolina have a standardized set of treatments, each center is unique. Results can be highly influenced mostly by the length of stay in the program. Short-term rehabs in South Carolina rarely work. The most effective rehabs will last several months, not a few days, since it requires that long to get the drugs or alcohol totally out and the addict can begin again to live in truth, positive thinking, and have motivations toward a successful future.
Each addict has a different life experience with drugs and alcohol. What triggered the initial use and subsequent addiction can be quite different for each individual. So, getting to the bottom of it will often take different approaches and some initial therapy. Addictions are often triggered by an emotional or physical pain, or a void in the person’s life, so those must be dealt with simultaneously or the addiction cannot be solved. Often called “dual-diagnosis” treatment, this work on the heart and soul is essential, but not provided in all rehabs.
Addictions are affected by an area of the brain called the Mesolimbic Dopamine System. It is not something that a person can consciously manage. So, it is quite difficult for an addict to discern how to stop their addiction. Whether or not the addict stoked the fire of the addiction, to begin with, is irrelevant to their ability to turn it around. Once the addiction is started, the addict no longer has control to stop the addiction.
It is a common thought that a vast majority of people must hit “rock bottom” due to their addiction, before they will enter a drug and alcohol treatment center, in a lucid moment of self-preservation. But all people are motivated differently, and have different levels of their addiction. For that reason, some may be motivated to stop their addiction by loved ones, while others may need to nearly die before they’ll seek help. Common reasons people seek help include, but are not limited to: family pressure, legal issues, illness or near-death experiences, or finances. Unfortunately, many choose to avoid rehab until they’ve destroyed all other options, but this does not include all addicts or alcoholics, so seek help for them now!
If you or someone you love in South Carolina is consumed by a harmful addiction to drugs or alcohol, it is advisable to seek addiction treatment help as soon as possible. The more time goes on, the harder it will be to reverse it. In contacting a rehab center, you can get quick answers to any questions you may have. It is always the right decision to begin to research the options for addiction treatment.

More about the most affordable alcoholism or drug addiction treatment centers in Moncks Corner, South Carolina:
Moncks Corner was, during colonial time, a major settlement area of French Protestant Huguenots who came to South Carolina as a result of persecution in Europe. Many Berkeley and adjacent county surnames today evidence this French influence. Revolutionary War hero Francis Marion was born near Moncks Corner, and is now honored by the naming of Francis Marion National Forest nearby. As defined by the U.S. Census Bureau, Moncks Corner is included within the Charleston–North Charleston–Summerville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Town of Moncks Corner, named for landowner Thomas Monck, dates back to 1728. It began as a trading post with a few taverns and stores. The Northeastern Railroad laid its tracks in 1856 and the train depot became the center of a new Town of Moncks Corner. It is recorded by the South Carolina Secretary of State’s office that the municipality of the Town of Moncks Corner was chartered on December 26, 1885 and incorporated December 15, 1909. The Town of Moncks Corner was granted the trade mark “Capital of Santee Cooper Country” by the South Carolina Secretary of State September 9, 1999 and again October 21, 2004. The trade mark is a symbol of the abundant outdoor activities such as horseback riding, hiking, water sports, boating and the best freshwater fishing in the South. Town of Moncks Corner is also the home of Santee Coopers Corporate office complex.
